WAR IN CHINA
SMALL TOWN CAPTURED.
(Received 26, 11.45 a.m.) Shanghai, Aug. 25. The Northerners have captured Tungchow, a small city on the north bank of the Yangtsze, 45 miles from the Woosung forts, which guard the entrance to the Whangpao river leading to Shanghai.
A cordon ot American marines has reinforced the municipal police, who encircled tho American Consulate in Shanghai following the issue of a circular stating that the Anarchist Youth Society of China and Korea would destroy the building as a protest again the execution of Sacco and Vanzetti.
The bu ?ection of the city was flooded with handbills thrown from the roofs of buildings protesting against the executions. Many Communists were arrested.—(A. and
