TAKAPAU.
(Own Correspondent.) The first of a series of efforts that have been arranged in furtherance oi the project for the erection of I’lunket rooms at Takapau eventuated on Friday evening in a successful variety entertainment to which Dannevirke and Napier performers contributed. There was a good attendance and that in spite ot adverse weather and several counter-attrac-tions.
The following assisted with the programme:—Mrs Shanley, Miss M. Webber, Miss Bobby Bald, Miss F. Mac Gibbon, Miss M. Holden, Miss IHam, Messrs R. Moore, L. Kendal, Holworthy. The accompaniments were delightfully played by Mr. Lidding ton.
The Rev. A. E. Hunt, on behalf of the local branch of the Plunket Society, thanked the performers for the enjoyable evening they bad provided, especially mentioning the name of -Miss Bingham, who was responsible for arranging for the Dannevirke company and also for transport so that the performance was contributed entirely free of expense t'o the society.
The dancing items by Misses Bobbv Bald and M. Holden were particularly well received and balanced a nicely arranged programme of varieties which were all of outstanding merit
