On Friday evening, the usual fortnightly euchre party and dance was held in the schoolroom, and proved to be as enjoyable and successlul as all the I’ukehu functions usually are, and was patronised by qite a number of visitors. The euchre prizes were won bv Mrs. Corbin, first, with Mrs. Evans, consolation, and Mr. A. Brittin, first with Mr. C. Wake consolation. After a dainty supper had been partaken of, the room was cleared for dancing -which was kept up with zest, until the “wee sma’ ” hours. Mr. H. Thompson was M.C. Mr. A. Brittin supplied the music for dancing, Mr. Petersen playing several extras, and Mrs. gangster gave several phonograph selections. The next long night dance is to be held on Friday, September 2nd, when a Monte Carlo waltz will be put on with good trophies for the winners. The management has also decided to have half of the programme leap year dances, which should appeal to the ladies and make for a record attendance.
