ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(Per Press Association. At Wairoa this morning a man named J. R. Dixon, a concrete pipemaker, met with an accident, receiving a severe wound in the groin. He was admitted to hospital but owing to the loss of much blood expired shortly after admission.
The body of George Low was found in the Grey river, Westland, this morning at Kotuku, the deceased apparently having fallen in by accident.
A distressing accident resulting in the death of Mrs John Ennis, aged 46, the wife of a well-known soldier settler, occurred yesterday on Otairi road, near Huntervilie. Ennis and his wife were returning home and at a narrow portion of the road one of the front wheels of their car got into the water table. In endeavouring to right the vehicle the steering wheel was given a sharp turn and the car immediately shot across the road and fell over the side into a gully, somersaulting twice. A peculiarity is that passers-by shortly afterwards found the vehicle resting at the foot of the fully on its wheels, the occupants being underneath. Mrs Ennis was dead, having been crushed in the cars’ descent. Ennis was dazed and suffering from injuries. They resided at Braemore settlement.
