August 18 The twenty-sixth annual Labour Party Conference at Blackpool will consider a resolution favouring a surtax on incomes over £5OO per annum in order to enable the abolition of taxes on necessaries and the development of social services and reduction of th© National Debt. Th© conference will also consider resolutions demanding better efforts to grapple with unemployment; opposing the Government proposals for the reform of the House of Lords: urging the abolition of boards of guardians and leaving the maintenance of the aged widows, and the fatherless, and disabled unemployed to national schemes. A further resolution prohibits Labour leaders writing for the capi. talistic press.—(A.P.A. and “Sun” cable.)
