CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. H.B. NOWHERE. Inveroargill, Aug. 17. The New Zealand boxing championships began this evening before a good attendance. Flyweight.—P. Pulton (Westford) 7-BJ, beat S. Gray (Wanganui), 7.9, on points; S. Jarvis (Southland) could not make the weight and delimited to F. Pearcy (Auckland); K. Hutchinson (Hawke’s Bay) defaulted to N. Roebuck (Taranaki); C. Horne (Wellington), 7.8, beat E. M. Rix (Otago), 7.10, on points. Bantams.—V. Hawse (Westport), 8.2, knocked out L. Jarvis (Southland), 80, in the second round; J. O’Sullivan (Auckland), 8.0, knocked out J. Evans (Manawatu), 8.1, in the second round; O’Sullivan beat Hawse on points; N. Roebuck (Taranaki) defaulted to C. Bresnahan (Christchurch); H. Larsen (Wellington), 7.13, beat R. Hutchinson (Hawke’s Bay), 8.0; L. Knuckey (Hawke’s Bay) defaulted to W. Parker (Otago). Featherweights.—T. Donovan (Taranaki), B’lo, won on a technical knockout in the first round from F. Kieley; W, G. Leckie (Otago), 8.11, beat L. Knucke.v (Hawke’s Bay), 8.8, on points; G. Steele (Southland), a bye. Lightweights.—L. W. Gee (Bay of Plenty) defaulted to A. Jones (Southland); J. R. Martin (Millerton) and W. Gilson (Bluff) both defaulted; T. Slattery (Auckland), 9.10, beat J. Bishara (Taumaranui), 9.10, on points; E. Morgan (Wellington), 9.13, beat R. Fulcher (Otago), 9.8,- on points. Welter Weights. —E. Armishaw (Auckland), 10.7, beat G. McEwan (Southland), on points; P. J. Stone (Wellington), 10-3, beat L. Adams (Southland) 10.5 on points; S. Hughes (Otago) 10.6 beat J. Nelson (Greymouth) 10.5 on points; D. Richardson (North Otago) 10.6 beat B. O’Keefe (Manawatu) 10.8. O’Keefe appealed for a foul, but this was disallowed by the referee following an examination. O. Jaggers (Christchurch) 10.1 beat J. Smith (Tau- ' maranui) 10-6 on points. This was voted the best bout of the evening L. W. Gee (Bay of Plenty) a bye. Heavyweight.—P. McCarthy (Auckland) 12.8 knocked out S. Hogg (Greymouth) 12.0 in the first round ; A. Campbell (North Otago) 12.1 beat G. Carlton (Wanganui) 12.12 on points; J. G Leckie (Otago) 12.9 beat W. E. Tyree (Wellington) 12.4 on points. — ASSOCIATION MEETING. Invercargill, Aug. 17. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Association was held to-day, Mr S. A. Strickland presiding. Delegates were present from Wellington. Marlborough, Taumarunui, Christchurch, Gisborne, Greymouth, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu, Napier, North Otago, Otago and Bluff. It was decided that before a license is issued a professional boxer must furnish the council with a certificate of competency, issued by the association where he is a resident. A Hawke's Bay remit advocating the limitation of the purse to £l5O for professional bouts, save under special circumstances and then only with the concurrence of the New Zealand Association, was carried. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr. F. A. Craig (Auckland) ; council, Dr. P. F. McEvedy, Messrs. D. R. Hoggard, J. R. Simpson, E. Blundell, E. A. Lawson, J. W. Heenan. Colonel R. St. J. Beere.

It was decided to hold the 1928 championships at Auckland.
