A well attended meeting of the Ladies’ Social and School Committee was held on Tuesday evening 'o discuss the final arrangements for the chilren’s ball, to be held in the Assembly Hall on Friday evening next, August 19th. The response that is being accorded by the parents and householders to this popular function gives assurance that Friday evening’s re-union will be one of the best held in Hastings. It was decided to make a nominal charge for supper for adults, but parents and others who contribute towards the refreshments will ne given a complimentary supper ticket. The children will hold the floor from the commencement of the grand march at 7.30 until 10 30 p.m. alter which adults may dance until 1 a.tn. The usual social, euchre and dance, in aid of the school funds, was held on Friday evening and. as on Previous occasions, was ver.v successful, proving very enjoyable to everyone. The prize-winners at cards were:— Ladies Mrs McKeegan 1. Mrs Wilkie consolation; gentlemen. Mr Henrne 1. Mr Connolly consolation. The music for the dance was supplied by Mrs Hearne, extras being played by Mrs McMahon and Mr Hearne The supper was served by the ’ ladies' committee, under the supervision of Mesdames Anderson' and Burt.
