The “Evening Sgndqrd’’ savs lire New Zealanders' success against Derby should settle the question of whether the team has come up to expectations. It was pointed out that Sussex lid not nlav late, and Worcester did not .play Root, therefore grumblers lequested that Marylebone suggest to the counties the fairness of selecting their strongest sides, but Marylebone did not listen to the suggestion. It is impossible to disparage the overwhelming defeat of Derbyshire, which is at present one of the best countv sides, and whose position in the championship contest i s the outstanding feature of the season—(A.P.A. and “Sun” cable.)
