IRISH FREE STATE
VOTE OF CENSURE. RESULT UNCERTAIN. PRIVATE NEGOTIATIONS. (British Official Wireless). (Received 16, 11.45 a.m.) YRugby, Aug. 15. The development of the political situation in the Irish Free State will be determined by the result of the vote of censure which Labour leader Mr Thomas Johnson will moved in Dail Eircann to-morrow. Reports from Dublin indicate that negotiations have been proceeding privately since the balance of the parties was disturbed by the entry of members of Mr de Valera’s party into Dail, and it is assumed that the de Valerates and Captain Redmond’■ National League party will support the Labour motion and secure the defeat of the Government. The “Evening News” states, however, that the result of the censure motion is uncertain owing to the attitude of some of the members of Captain Redmond’s party now reduced to seven by the resignation of Mr Vincent Rice. The decision of Captain Redmond's followers who hold the balance of power, will be announced tomorrow. Meanwhile, it is stated that in tho event of Mr Johnson being invited to form an administration he will ask certain well-known constitutionalists to enter his Cabinet in order to form a disinterested government that would concentrate upon administrative work. (An overnight cable from Dublin stated: All sorts of negotiations are proceeding behind the scenes. Whether there will be a new Government entrely hinges on the attitude of the National League. Captain Redmond is prepared to help the Labourites and the Fianna. Failites to put out the Government but Insists on earmarking certain ilinistries for members of his party in the new Executive Council. Mr Johnson obstinately refuses to commit himself to an advance arrangement.)
