ATHLETICS.
HASTINGS AMATEUR CLUB. ANNUAL MEETINGThe annual general meeting of the Hastings Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was held last evening, when there Was a good atendance. Mr. S. C. Rusbatch (chairman), in opening the meeting, congratulated the members on the success achieved last season, and hoped that the incoming season would mark another epoch in the advancement of amateur athletics in this district. The report and balance-sheet were adopted and the hon. secretary and treasurer (Mr. C. J. Robertson) was congratulated on the capable manner in which he had prepared the balancesheet and report. A special vote of thanks was passed to Mr. W. Brady, who has marshalled the athletic meetings on every occasion. Mr. Brady founded the club and was elected' its first life fcr honorary members, 7/6 for active member. The subscriptions were fixed at 5/members (plus registration), and 5/for junior members, including registration. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected for the 1927-28 season:—Patron, Mr H. M. Campbell, M.P.: president, Mr G. A. Maddison; Vice-presidents Messrs. 8. C. Rusbatch, £- Bowen’ W. J. Carberry, F. C. White, H. W. Baird, R. M. Hewitt, H. Brown, W, E- Hyslop, W. J. Robertson, G. O'Leary, A. E. Grenside, W. A. G. Penlington, A. H- Hayes, W. B. Nicoll, S. J. McKee T. White, 8 O. Garland, W. W. Adams, A. Giorgi, F. L. Bone, 8. Armstrong and J. Chambers. There were thirteen nominations for the nine seats on the committee, and the election resulted as follows’ Messrs. W. Brady, E. Wall. W. V. Blake, T. Johnson, A. W. Simpson, E. Hutchins, N. Grenside, J. Wheatley and J. Taylor; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr C. J. Robertson (reelected) ; hon. assistant secretary, Mr B. A- Sanders (re-elected); hon. auditor, Mr. C. M. Williamson (reelected) ; delegate to Wellington Centre, Mr. A. C. Kitto (re-elected). GENERAL. Mr. Brady, in presenting the New. ton Cup to Mr. Nuku Grenside, congratulated Mr. Grenside on his line performance in the 440 yards Club Championship. Mr Grenside suitably respondedA vote of thanks was passed to the hon. chairman, who has given of his best at all times. A vote of thanks was also passed to Mr. B. A. Sanders, for his untiring work through the year.
