TAKAPAU.

A party of Danuevirke amateurs has kindly consented to give a concert in Takapau on Friday, 19th inst., in aid of a fund for building Plunket rooms and Mothers’ Rest rooms on a section which has been generously donated for that purpose bv Mrs Sydney Johnston. Several other efforts are to be made in furtherance of this worthy object, and when there is a fair sum in hand a start will be made with the building which when erected will till a useful want in the town and district.

In the play-off for Mrs G. S. White’s golf trophy for which Mrs Prescott and Miss Cuthbertson tied, the former was the winner.

A well patronised ami most enjoyable dancing evening was held in the

Town Hall on Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of the establishment of the local Manchester Unity Lodge of Oddfellows. The arrangements were chiefly in the hands of the lodge treasurer and secretary, Messrs S. McMurray and W. Jackson, and they and their coworkers are to be congratulated on the happy result of their labours as besides the evening being most enjoyable it was also financially successful. Miss O’Reilly’s Waipawa Orchestra played the dance music and the musicians had to respond -o many well deserveci encores. The floor was ably contrcVed by Messrs A. Jackson and R. Cook, both of whom were assiduous in carrying out the M.C. duties. The supper arrangements and the refreshments themselves were all that could be desired and this part of the evening's entertainment reflected credit on the supper committee and others responsible.
