AUCKLAND PREMISES RAIDED.

CHARGES UNDER GAMING ACT HEAVY FINES INFLICTED. (Special to “Tribune ”) Auckland. August 13. This morning detectives raided premises at 115 Hobson street, as a result of which Thomas Curran was charged with keeping a common gaming house, Later in the dav he oppeared at the Magistrate’s Court before Mr F. K. Hunt, and was fined £75. Archibald Anderson and William McMillan were each fined £25 on a charge of assisting in keeping a common gaming house. Lily Peters and another William McMillan were each fined £2 for unlawfully being on the premises at 115 Hobson street. A WELLINGTON RAID. Wellington, Aug. 13. To many white people the game of pakapoo is just as alluring as to the Oriental mind, and there is more than one Chinese shop in Wellington in the back of which a piece of flimsy paper marked with mysterious characters changes hands for sixpense or a shilling. There is a chance of a big prize for a very small investment, but sometimes the bankers and the players find the game more expensive than they expect. Such was the case to-day when Ah Young, - aged 63, and Wong Koon, aged 23, were each fined £25 for keeping common gaming houses- Albert Andrews, aged 43, Bernard Walter Parker, aged 23, James Van Borssum, aged 37, Arthur Waugh, aged 49 and Ernest Regan, aged 44, who were found on the premises were each fined £2.
