DOINGS ABOUT THE TOWN. TIT-BITS FROM COUNCIL MEETING. The regular meeting of the Hastings Borough Council was held last evening when His Worship the Mayor (Mr. G. A. Maddison) occupied the chair. The councillors present were Messi's. J. Simmons, E. V. Simpson, T. Donovan, A. I. Rainbow, G. C. Lowe, S. J, McKee, R. Baker, M. Johnson and R. Henderson. The Reserves Committee recommended the council to give Mr. J. Langridge, curator of the Purchase Wellington Zoo, authorof ity to purchase a pair of Wallabies wallabies at £4.—This was agreed to. Cr. J. Simmons further reported that an offer had been made to the ladies and nothing further had been heard about the matter, so it had been taken that the suggestion to set aside two full-sized greens with the possibility of adding a smaller one, had (been accepted. There was also the possibility of giving the club gateways on to both highways. Relative to the suggestions for extending Beresford street to the end of Mr. E. J. However. the chairman (Cr. M. Johnson) has been informed bv the Rev. Mortimer Jones of a method whereby the Council might obtain these books within a few months of publication at considerably reduced rates, and the matter has been left in the hands of the chairman to go further into.— Received.
