OBITUARY.
MR. RICHARD C. KIRK. Wellington, Aug. 12. The death was announced at Wellington to-day of Mr. Richard Clement Kirk, of Petone, chairman of the New Zealand Golf Council, and originator of the Kirk-Windeyer Cup. Mr. Kirk was a member of the legal profession, and prominent from his youth in all sports, including shooting, and took a keen interest in the management of all. He was Mayor of Petone for many years, and played an important part in laying down the foundation on which that town’s present prosperity is laid. The late Mr. Kirk is the father of Mrs. D. Hursthouse, of Hastings. MR. HENRY HEATON. The death is announced of Mr. Henry Heaton, which occurred in the Napier Hospital this morning, after n long illness, at the age of 59 years. The deceased was well known m Hastings and the surrounding district, having been for some time secretary of the Heretaunga Dairy Company and he was highly esteemed by everyone acquainted with him. He leaves a widow and grown- ip family to mourn him and with him general sympathy is expressed. The interment in the Napier cemetery will be of a private nature.
