Kaikahu headed Beau Cavalier justsafter passing the seven furlong post, with Dubious and Wharncliffe well up. At the half-mile Kaikahu and Wharirclilfe were beinning to draw away from Dubious and Beau Cavalier, anil although Kaikahu jumped the last fence first, Whancliffe outstayed I and won easily by four lengths. Eight or nine lengths back Beau Cavalier was fourth, followed by Rangitahi and Coastguard, with Kawini a long way back. The latter came in very lame behind. AUGUST HANDICAP. Once in line Nadarino shook off his nearest attendants, but Tuahine challenged in the final stages, Nadarino getting home by a length from her, Horomea coming well at the finish into third place, nearly two lengthe back.
