REAR REFLECTORS.
(To the Editor). Sir, —1 understand the rear reflectors are compulsory in Hastings, and owners of push bikes are compelled to have them affixed to the rear of their machines. As 1 live in Havelock, and have a business in Hastings, 1 am a constant user of the Havelock road. On my return in the evening tietween five and six o’clock, 1 pass at least six or eight cyclists travelling towards Havelock without any reflectors whatever. Although I have a strong head light, and am always a careful driver, 1 Jiave missed them by inches. In all probability these arc' the same people I pass each night, if there is an accident, who is to blame? The motorist of course. I think if a constable was stationed near the Havelock bridge, about that time, quite a few fines would follow. Also, the cycle dealers in Hastings would benefit considerably by the sale of rear reflectors.—l am, etc., WAKE UP CONSTABLE. Hastings, 8/8/27.
