TO-DAY’S RACING. Christchurch, Aug. 9. The C.J.C. Grand National meeting opened in good weather with a very large attendance. The track is in excellent order. Results:— Hunters’ Hurdles.—2 The Babe 1, 3 Calluna 2, 7 Rangiawhio 3, Scratched ■ Master Black. Won by a length. Time, 3.24. Trial Hurdles.—l Aberfeldy 1, 2 Peneus 2, 4 Guncase 3. Scratched: Perle de Leon. Won by three lengths. Time, 3.18 1-5. Cashmere Plate—2 Royal Lineage 1. 3 Prince Paladin 2, 1 Wreath of Myrtle 3. All started. Won by twe lengths. Time. 1,15 1-5. Jumpers' Flat.—3 Perle de Leon 1, 7 Rangitahi 2, 6 Kaikahu 3. Scratched: Gaze. Captain Sarto, Beauty Light. Won by two lengths, a neck between second and third. Time, 2-41. MARTON JOCKEY CLUB. Nominations for all events in the Marton Jockey Club’s Spring meeting close with the secretary, Mr. Arthur Way, on Friday, August 12th, at 9 p.m.
