WELLINGTON WAR MEMORIAL
BITS IN PARLIAMENT GBOUNDB, GOVERNMENT HAS NO OBJECTION. Wellington, Aug. 9. The Wellington War Memorial Committee has been advised by the Premier that the Government has no objection to a memorial to men of the Wellington district who fell in the war being eercted on the triangular plot in front of Parliament grounds, provided teh design of the memorial conforms to the general surroundings. This letter, a “Post” reporter was informed, is confirmatory of the offer of the site made by the late Mr. Massey several years ago. “We have no intention of. going back on Mr. Massey's offer,” said Mr. Coates when questioned on the subject.
