HASTINGS CITIZENS’ BAND.

CARD TOURNEI AND ULD-TIME DANCE.

The 500 card tournament and oldtime dance held last night under the auspices of the Hastings Citizens’ Land, was a distinct- social success, over 50 couples being present. The card prizes were won by Mesdames R. Henderson, McKeegan and Miss V. Henderson,, who divided the first prize, and by Mr McCoombe. who carried off the first prize in the gentlemen’s section. Mrs R. Henderson and Mr McCombe won the Monte Carlo dance competition. Mr R. Henderson was in charge of the card tables and Mr C. W. Bennison acted as M.C. for the dancing, the music being supplied by Mr and Mrs V. Horne, Mrs McMahon and Mr Charters. During the evening, Mrs V. Horne sang, and a dainty supper was supplied by the ladies. Owing to the concert for the unemployment fund being held on Tuesday night, next week’s tournament will take place on Monday evening, when there will be extra prices for the dancing-
