The Administrator of New Guinea issues a warning in connection with the newly-discovered goldfields. He states that the find is a seven days’ trek from Rabaul through rough coua try, and any attempt to reach ft would mean almost eeertain death to any bu the most experienced men. Each man would need at least £lOOO for expenses for the journey, 20 native carriers being required for each prospector. Some reports state that 1000 ounces daily are being obtained from Edie Creek, but the returns obtained by the Adminisrator show that for the seven monhs ended July 31st, the total was 10,991 ounces.—(A. and N.Z.)
