The Stranded Cooma
ATTEMPT TO TOW OFF REEF. FRUSTRATED BY LINE PARTING (Received 24, 9.25 a.m.) Brisbane, Aug. 24. When a tug attempted to tow the steamer Cooma off tho reef, just as she began to move the towing line snapped, and before the tug could he manoeuvred into position and tho lino renewed the tide had fallen and tho chance of refloating the vessel was missed. Heavy weather so far lias prevented further attempts.
