The Dominions’ Restrictions EMIGRATION VESSEL CRITICISED A LLEG ED COMPLAINTS. [By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.] (Received 30, 1G.55 a.m.) London, March 29. In the House of Commons, drawing attention to tho interdepartmental committee’s report making important, recommendations in respect of migration, Sir ('. Kinloch-Cooke Conservative. 'East Cardiff) asked if it were proposed to take any action to modify the Dominions’ restrictions upon resisted passages. Mr. L. M. Amery said the report had been forwarded to the dominions’ Governments, who must ho the best judges of such matters. The whole question would be discussed at the Imperial Conference. Mr. H. Day (Labour. Southwark Central) asked whether the authorities would hold an inquiry into tho'allegations that the Waimana. used to convey migrants to Now Zealand, was totally unfitted for the purpose, that 900 passengers were cramped into illventilated six-lrrth cabins and that there were only nine baths for the whole of tho migrants. Sir R. Burton Chadwick (Undersecretary for Trade) said the Waimana had been surveyed and complied with the regulations. .Mr. Day asked if Sir R. Burl on Chadwick had received a complaint from 250 passengers that the ventilation was had and the food abominable, and also that towards the end of tho voyage 2d was charged for a glass of water. Sir R. Burton .Chadwick replied in the negative, but stated that if details were supplied he would hr.re thorn investigated. Captain R. Geo. V.C. (Conservative. Bosworth) asked if ho would got tho regulations altered. Sir R. Burton Charlwick replied that ho was not aware thev wore bad. They had proved satisfactory in many ships. —(A. and N.Z.)
