Auckland, ag r un ( :t. the Crown for £4.200 for 08 acres of land taken bv the Public Works Department on tho Frankton side of Hamilton Lake, on behalf of the Hamilton Domain Board for recreation purposes. The board offered Hie owners £lO.OOO for thp land, but this was refused, and the Board then seized the bind under the Public Works Act. ns it feared that tho draining of the land which the owners proposed would pormanentlv rodneo the lev,.] of ib<> lake and destroy Hamilton’s chief boautv spoi. After hearing evidence for two days, the Court over which Mr. Justice Ostler presided. awarded the claimants Cl .960.
