LONDON WOOL SALE. CLOSE WITH CHEERFUL TONE. London, Mar. 26. The wool sales closed with a cheerful tone. Competition throughout was satisfactory and widespread, except from the United States, 'which only took about 1500 bales. Compared with January closing prices merinos and greasy were par to five per cent advance. Scoureds were difficult of sale and many were withdrawn owing to high reserves. Crossbred finest showed a five per cent advance. All other grades were slightly easier. Lambs, crossbreds, were slightly aearer, and merinos irregular and occasionally in buyers’ favour. The Now Zealand brands sold as follows: —Waiere, top price 16d, average 15d; Brooklands, 16d, average 14$d. The Bradford market is slow and business difficult. Topmakers 4 quotations are firm, and crossbreds a shade easier.—(A. and N.Z.) Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd. report;—Market closed firm lor all classes. Crossbred scoured and sljpe, par to 5 per cent, advance. Sheepskins: Good selection and good competition. Alerino advanced 5 per cent. Crossbred fine, par to 5 per cent, advance. New Zealand choicest salted and unsalted 174 s to 1765; Australian ditto 170 s to lf2s; Danish 185 s. The decline is duo to increasing production.
