Those who enjoyed the stage version of Zeigfeld’s noted musical success, “Sally,” in which Josie Melville leapt to fame overnight, will find added joy in First National’s screen version of the same piece, starring Colleen Moore, which comes to thc Cosy Theatre, Hastings, to-night. Colleen Alooro brings to the role cf “Sally” a genius for sympathetic intcrpretaTJbn that unquestionably will make this role an outstanding hit of her long list of successes. “Sally” calls for much human interest, pathos, fire of temprament and delightful sentiment. June Mathis, who has transferred to thc screen such successes as “The Four Horsemenand “Blood and Sand,” did the adapting of “Sally” and alsrjv.-is editor-in-chief of production. ihc major incidents of “Sally’s” obscure origin her struggle up the ladder of life and love and fame are all there. But Miss Alathis has gone further. She has looked behind the scones, so to speak, taken the playwright’s story and, ultising the plot thread, embroidered it in a manner that doubtedly will win her the praise of the staunchest of thei admirers of the stage version.
