As frostbite was causing much suffering among the rival armies outside Mukden, General Kuo, brigade com mander of Kuo Sung-lin’s advance guard, telephoned to General Wu, brigade commander of the Mukden army, suggesting an armistice, where upon, according io report, the latter immediately agreed.
