OBITUARY.

AIR. AVALTER BISHOP. Although he showed sign 8 of improvement yesterday. Air. Walter Bishop, who was admitted to the Napier Hospital a few days ago suffering from a serious illness passed away 1 at 2.30 this morning at the age of 50 years. He was conscious almost to the last, and his end was peaceful. He was born at Christchurch being a son of Airs, and the late Air. C. Bishop. He served his apprenticeship to the bakery trade. Coming to Hastings 30 years ago, he worked at hi 8 trade and afterwards established the well-known Star Barkery in Heretaunga street AA’. Relinquishing this he carried on a business in Alartm borough but only for a short time as he returned to Hastings, where with the exception of a brief period in Napier, he ran the confectionery and bakery business next to Millar and Giorgi’s. The late Air. Bishop was a keen enthusiast in friendly society matters, being a member of the Eureka T*odge of Druids and the Rechabite Lodge (acting as secretary of the former). He was also a member of the Hastings Bowling Club and Hastings Orphans Club. He was a staunch member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Cliurch, and was a member of the choir. A man of the highest integrity and ot a genial disposition, he won the esteem of everyone with whom he came .in contact, and his death will lie sincerely regretted by all classes of the community. He leaves a widow and one daughter (Mrs. C. Watkins of Hastings) to mourn their loss. The funeral will leave St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Afarket street at 2 p.m. to-morrow for the Hastings cemetery.
