POST AND TELEGRAPH OFFICERS.

DISSATISFACTION WITH SALARIES. Auckland. Feb. 1. Dissatisfaction with the salaries in the Post and Telegraph service wa* expressed at a meeting of the Auckland section of the Officers’ Association. and a resolution was carried: “Tliht as the service has never received an increase in salary commensurate with th© cost of living and has suffered unjust cuts in the already inadequate renumeration, the executive demand that in fixing salaries for the next five years officers be placed on a footing which will give their salaries th© purchasing power as obtained in 1914 As an instance, thdseventh olasg maitimum shou\J» now be £332 per annum.. The reason advanced in justtttcation of th© cuts, “that-the country was short of money,” no longer exists, as is instanced by th© fact that large sums of money have been handed to the public in reduction of postage and telegraph rates. Tt is contended that the officers should paricipate in the better conditions ruling.”
