SCIENTISTS COMPARE RESULTS. (Received 23, 11.5 a.m.) [By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.! Brisbane, Sept 23. Various sections of the observing parties at Stanhope are comparing data. Professor Gale, leader of the party, stated that he observed at least twenty brilliant crescents scattered along the background of the spectrum and recognised hydrogen, sodium, magnesium, calcium and helium by characteristic bright lines. Father Pigot, of Riverview, says he used a new instrument procured from Washington for solar radiation observation. and got full results in measurements of solar sky, loss of heat and incoming radiation.—-(A. and N.Z.) WELL SEEN AT SEA. . (Received 23, noon) Brisbane, Sept. 23. The chief officer of a steamer which has just arrived, said passengers obtained a fine sight of the eclipse. The Japanese crew became greatly excited and concerned at their sun going dead.—(A. and N.Z.)
