SOVIET RUSSIA.
A LESSON IN CONSISTENCY. Moscow, Sept. 20. The latest art craze in Soviet Russia is conductorless orchestral concerts. All conductors have been formally abolished on the ground that their presence is opposed to the true Soviet spirit. Bolshevik newspapers declare that the performances are entirely satisfactory. The dignity of the executants is safeguarded by the absence of a leader wielding a stick, which is an intolerable symbol to free men. (A. and N.Z.)
