WAIPAWA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
(Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Waipawa Horticultural and Home Industries Society was held on Tuesday evening. There was a fair attendance, presided over by Mr. H. M. Rathbone. The balance-sheet, as submitted by the hon. secretary, Canon Butterfield, was as follows :— Receipts.—Balance credit from 1920 show £36 11/1, special prizes £lO 17/6, members’ subscriptions £8 14/-, door money 1921 show £l4 14/6, afternoon tea £3 17/-, sales (flowers, vegetables, cakes) £4 10/-, entry fees £9 19/9, hire of vases (Onga) £1 6/6; total, £9O 11/2. Expenditure.—Prizes paid out £l6 2/6, judge’s fee £2 2/-, postages 13/9, printing £lO 2/6. cartage £2 3/-, rent of hall £6 8/-. miscellaneous £3 1/9, bonus to secretary £5, balance credit £4l 17/8; total £9O 11/2. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Sir Geoifee Hunter; president, Mr. A. L. G. Carlyon; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. M. Rathbone, F. J. Witherow, T. Carson, W. White and E. W. Lee; committee, Messrs, J. Avison, Grenside. Miller, Harker, J. Pratley. T. Williams. Arrow, Crumining, Oritchley, Holt, Corskie and Rev. W. J. Neal; hon. secretary, Rev. Canon Butterfield. The members’ subscriptions were fiqed at 5/-. As a recognition of his valued work the secretary was voted £5. The annual show was arranged for November 29th. The following are to be asked to act as judges : —Flowers, Mr. A. J. Shailer. Palmerston North; vegetables, Mr. P. Peters; ladies’ decorative classes, Mrs. Balharry; home industries and fancy work, Mrs. W. Clark. Messrs. Rathbone and Carson were appointed to purchase new t roph ie s.
