Foreign exchange rates on_the £1 sterling are;—Paris, 40 fr. 95 cents : Stockholm, 17.56 kr.; Christiana, 18.54 kr- ; Montreal, 4 dollars 1 cents; New York 3 dollars 78} cents. At Calcutta the rupee is 28Jd. [The nominal values of the above coins are dollar 4/2, franc 9J, kroner 1/I|, rupee 2/-.] A LONG TIME LOAN. UNITED STATES TO BRITAIN. New York, Jan. 2. Sir George Paish, interviewed in New York, said that the United States must extend England a larg*. long-time Joan, because England was buying in the United States extensively and reselling practically all to Europe. Bankruptcy threatens Europe if such a loan is not furnished. Sir G. Paish states that he hopes to be able to improve the exchange rate between the United States and England.—(A. and N.Z.)
