CLIVE SCHOOLS COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting was held in the schoolroom on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs J. C. Hollyman (chairman), J. Cushing, T. Cushing, B. Anderson and H. Lawton. The headmaster (Mr A. R. Cullen) reported that the attendance had been considerably interfered with lately by an epidemic of a mild form of Chicken-pox, and the progressive work of the school somewhat retarded in consequence. Correspondence was received from the Mayoress of Napier, thanking the staff and pupils for their generous contributions towards, the lied Cross Fund, and the Soldiers' Christmas Box Fund. A hearty vote of thanks w r as passed to Miss Burns for the very able instruction given by her to pupils working upon articles for the lied Cross Fund, and a further vote of thanks was passed to all those townspeople who kindly supplied the school w’ith material or money to assist this good work. A contribution towards the school funds made by Mr. J. J. Rathie was also much appreciated. Correspondence from the Education Board was dealt with and accounts for £8 2/10 were passed for payment. Messrs H. Lawt on and B I Anderson w r ere appointed visiting committee for the ensuing month.
