PAKOWHAI.

(Own Correspondent.) The usual monthly meeting, of the school committee was held in the schoolroom last Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs L. A. Milne (chair) W. McLeod, O. McCutcheon, and E Kiddle. - The headmaster reported that the roll number was 61, and the average attendance for the past month was 52.44. The Education Board’s painters have nearly completed the work of painting the school, outbuildings and the master’s residence. It, was decided to hold the annual picnic on November 24th. Accounts amounting to £1 17/4. were passed for payment. Private Noel* Sutton who has been invalided back to New 7 Zealand arrived home last Thursday night. He has gone into the Napier Hospital for treatment owing to the serious nature of his wounds.. Private Sutton left with the Main Expeditionary force, and has seen much fighting in Gallipoli and in France, being seriously wounded on two occasions., During his recent travels he says he saw’ no country be liked so well as New Zealand.
