UNHEALTHY DOSS HOUSE

RAIDED BY POLICE. Auckland, Nov. I. Under the War Regulations Act the police last night made a. raid on which is known as a shilling-a-night lodging house in Federal street. They arrested sixteen men and two women occupants. This morning Purvis Graham, aged 63, on a charge of keeping a house of ill fame was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment, Margaret Lange a resident in the house to nine months, and Agnes Bathurst, also a resident, to six months’ imprisonment. Four men were sentenced to one month and one man, on a charge of vagrancy, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
