SUICIDE AT TARADALE.

MAN TAKES CARBOLIC ACID. Mr. Thomas William Manley, acting town clerk for the Taraclalo Town : Board, committed suicide yesterday morning by drinking carbolic acid. ; The deceased, who had been drinking heavily for some days, ; went into Mr. T. Alexander’s store yesterday morning and purchased a bottle of carbolic acid. After he i left the shop Mr. Alexander follo-w- 1 ed him, and as he did so Manley put the bottle to his mouth and drank from it. The deceased was caught, and Dr. Swansegu was summoned and used the stomach pump. Constable O’Halloran then started with him to the Napier hospital, but the unfortunate man died on the way. An inquest will be held in the ordinary course. i
