The election of a queen is to be a feature of the bazaar to be held here next October to wipe off the debt on the hall. A large number of ladies here have willingly agreed to make articles of clothing for the Expeditionary Force to be sent by the New Zealand Government. The Qero bachelors excelled them selves last Friday evening by giving a grand ball in the Town Hall here. There was a very large attendance of residents a,nd visitors. The National Anthem was sung at the start of the proceedings. Splendid music was supplied by the Hastings Bohemian Orchestra, and an excellent supper was purveyed by Mr. Cambridge, Otane. Messrs. Weller and McQuilkan were M’s.C. Mr. J. Bone and the committee were sue cess in providing a most enjoyable evening.
