SWIMMING.
PIONEER CLUB’S CARNIVAL. The Pioneer Cluo will hold its annual carnival at the Hastings District School baths on Friday evening next, and among the principal features of an attractive programme will figure the 220 yards Hawke’s Bay Championship, the Hawke’s Bay School Boys’ Championship, open to primary school boys under 14 years of age, besides diving competitions and displays by the popular Scarlet Troupe. Egg and Spoon and Hobble Skirt races will prove mirth-provoking it?!ns, and the first appearance of the Hawke s Bay representatives since their return from the New Zealand championships at Wellington is a guarantee that the speed contests will bring out the best swimmers of the district. The water polo banner match, Pioneer v. Napier, will close the evening’s entertainment.
