HEAVY RAINFALL.
A GISBORNE RECORD. Gisborne, Feb. 13. There was a record rainfall for February, 8.62 inches having fallen. Much silt has lodged near the wharves. STORM REPORTS FROM WAIROA. Wairoa, Feb. 13. The week’s southerly weather culminated in a terrible gale with heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday ; 3.45 inches of rain fell in 36 hours. The river was in heavy flood yesterday, but no damage is reported. The growth of grass all over the district during the last ten days is phenomenal.
