WOODVILLE.

[OWN OOBBE3FONDENT.] A meeting of the committee of the Horticultural Society was held on Friday night, Mr R. Manisty in the chair. A rough balance-sheet presented by the secretary, Mr Stevenson, showed: a debit balance of a little over £1 on the show. There was a substantial increase in the amount of the prize-list, and the poor season had reduced the number of entries, while the weather on the day of the show had told against the attendance. On the other hand there had been a v vy considerable increase in members 1 subscriptions, and in donations, so that matters pretty well balanced. It was decided to suggest several alterations in and additions to the programme, the principal of the latter being the inclusion of sections for amateur photography and manuscript pianoforte score, Mr M. E. Grinlinton was thanked for his donation of £2 6s 6d (more than half the prize money he had won), and a committee was set up to allocate it and £1 Is presented by Mr Jas. Taylor. It was resolved to hand £5 to the volunteers to assist to pay for the lighting of the Drill Hall with acetylene gas. Mr John Herlihy, an old and much respected settler of the Bushmills Block, died on Friday morning, after a long illness. Mr W. Meredith has sold his farm in the same block at £l4 10s per acre.

A teachers’ drill class is to be established in Woodville, under LieutenantColonel Stevenson.
