[own correspondent.] Mr T. Trask and the other members of the committee, cannot but feel gratified at the success that has crowned their energetic efforts to provide a public hall for Matamau. Although only a few months have elapsed since the committee was appointed, no time was lost, and on Friday evening the ndtv hull was opened by the member for the district. Mr C. Hall. The hall is a substantial addition io the architecture of the township of Matamau. It was built by Mr Leighton. The dimensions are 42ft x 25ft. There is a stage, with two dressing-rooms, and two ante-rooms. The building was tastefully decorated for the opening ceremony. After the speecli making the floor was cleared for dancing. Messrs August Carlson and Svcnsen are fitting up a sawmill in the vicinity of Norsewood. A 12 horse-power Ransome and Sims engine left here on Saturday. The education reserve lease was sold by auction for 10J an acre, being purchased by Messrs Dassler Bros.
