WAIPAWA.

[own correspondent.] The Waipawa Convent School concert was held on Friday evening. Pianoforte selections were excellently played by the Misses A. and 0. Moroney, D. C. and P. dull, E. Limbrick, M. Shanly, M. Cosgrove, M. Corskie, A. Downer, M. Lyons, A. Watts, B. Lee, M. McKenna, G. Horton, and Master F. Carson. The solo and part singing of the pupils formed distinguishing items, especially the songs, “Fairies of the Sea’” (in costume), and “God is Love,” with its picturesque setting. The drill and action songs had a cordial reception. Miss N. Limbrick recited with piquant charm, “What’s a Baby good for?” The good-night drill raised enthusiastic applause, the principal exponent being Bell Limbrick, whose singing and acting were admirable. Interspersed among the items were marches and dances, and in this connection especial mention should be made of Eileen Whittington. The stage was beautifully decorated, the audience responsive, and Miss Florrie Symonds as mistress of the ceremonies acquitted herself well. The concert was brought to<, a merry close with the operetta “Daisy Bell,” which introduced some seventy children, beautifully and appropriately dressed. The principals were very good, and the Misses Marjie Shanly and T. Boyle sang their solos very sweetly. The staging was excellent, and the incidental tableaux artistically presented.
