HAWKE’B BAT ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of' the Hawks’s Bay Cricket Association was held last evening, Mr H. B. Link presiding, A letter was read from Mr A. M, Beale, secretary to the Waiapn Wanderers (East Coast) Club, intimating that a team of their orioketers desired to visit Napier during the week commencing Monday, 9th March, and play a series of four or five matches. It was decided to reply by telegraph pointing out that the Becreation Ground would be occupied on those dates with the Fite Brigade Demonstration, end suggesting that the visit bo deterred till a week later. Messrs S. White and G. H. Munro were appointed a subcommittee to make the necessary arrangements in the event of the dates sniting. The following players comprise the Wanderers’ combination: —Messrs A. B. Williams, H. B. Williams, J. Nat. Williams, K. S. Williams, P, T. Williams, E. B, Lndbrook, L. E. Ootteriil, G. Cotterill, G. C. Jackson, A, P. Dnrrant, Taylor, A. M. Beale, J. Murphy, and J. B. Morris.

The secretary of the Beoreation Ground Company intimated that cricket practice must cease after 6 p.m, on the dates between the 18th and 27th instant. It was decided that as Trott’s services would probably not bo available for the next senior eup match, the Colts team be allowed thirteen players, as at the commencement of the season.

Permission was granted tho Taradale and High School teams to play matches with a team of Fast Coasters from the Herbertville district on the 20th and 21st March respectively. Permission was also granted to a Napier team to play matches in the Bnsh district about Easter time.

The sub-committee appointed to arrange the Poverty Bay match reported that tho Napier team had been formed, and would leave for Gisborne on Friday evening. ENGLISHMEN V. SOUTH ISLAND. VISITORS AGAIN SUCCESSFUL. [ranss ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Monday. The match, Lord Hawke’s team v. South Island, resulted as expected in a win for the visitors by an innings and 130 runs. The weather was beautifully fine, with a stiff north-east breeze. Tho wioket was again in fine order, and should have been good for a large score.

South Island continued their first innings. With seven for 32, Callaway partnered Ongley, but was soon bowled. Boxahall hit oat merrily for 16, when he was bowled. Ongley, who had been at the wickets for over an hour for 3, was then caught by Bosanqnet, and the innings closed for 61, Following on, the South Island team made a slightly better etand, tho bowling not proving quite bo deadly, Reese was the first to retire, bowled by Thompson, 30 being up for one wioket at luncheon. On resuming Siedeberg was almost at onoe caught, and only 5 more had been added when Wilson shared the same fata. The partnership of Howden and Boxshall was profitable, the latter putting on 40 in quick style. He had a leto-ff in the stipe. ,He was caught with the total at 94. Ongley soon fell a viotim to Burnup, and one ball was enough for Callaway, Fisher put on 11, but none of the others oould stay with Howden, who carried out his bat for 37, the innings closing for 133, leaving the t nglishmen winners by an innings and 130 runs.
