SEIZURE OF TREASURE.

THE ALLIES' DEMANDS. OFFICIALS CONDEMNED. LI HUNG'S DIPLOMACY. Eoooivod October 30, 12,19 a.m. Hong Kong, Ootober 29. The Allies have seized 740,000 taels from the Paofcing-fu Treasury. The foreign Ministers have added Prince Ti and Yingmen to the list of officials whose execution is demanded. Early in the present month Li Hung Chang reported that Ymgmen had been decapitated, and Vi imprisoned. THE FIGHTING AT PEI-TANG FORTS. I saw 5000 Germans and Russians attack the Pei-tang forts yesterday (says the special correspondent of the New York Journal, writing from Taku on Sep- , tember 20th). Of these 300 were killed or wounded. The attaok on the forts began at 2 a.m. The fortß replied with a hot artillery fire, well directed against the camp of the Russian infantry. At daybreak the allied forces advanced, and the Chinese received them with a rattling rifle fire, in addition to shells from the heavy guns. The ground was mined over which we advanced, and the explosion of the mines killed and wounded almost all the 300 who fell. By 7 a.m, the forts were on fire. Their fire was silenced during the morning, and to-night the infantry dashed in and took the ruined fortifications and the city. The battle of Tianghsiang, on September 14th, was marked by two striking things; the most starling was the way the German soldiers carried out their Emperor's order to exact "exemplary punishment and vengeance." During the fight they had taken 160 prisoners. After the battle these were stood up in a row and shot. The other incident was the heroism of a Bengaleae Lancer, Trumpeter Ali-Shir. Captain Griffin's horse had been shot under him and he was surrounded by the Boxers, making the last stand for his life. The trumpeter dashed into the mob, catting them down with his sabre, reached the officer, gave him a hand, pulled him up to his Baddle, and cut his way out agaic, saving his captain's life in a Btyle that will almost Burely win him the Victoria Cross.
