NEW MINERS' UNION.
[by telegraph.] Dunedin, Wednesday. A conference of delegates from the various branches of the Otago Coal Miners' Union has been sitting during the past few days to take measures to organise a Federated Quartz and Coal Miners' Union for the whole colony, by uniting the different miners' organisations into a strong federation. It has been decided to appoint an organising agent, and on his tour being completed a meeting will be held to adopt a constitution and register what is likely to be the strongest industrial combination in the colony. It is intended to include dredge hands in the Union.
