MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.
[by telegraph.] Auckland, Wednesday. The Mayor of Auckland, Mr D. Goldie, although baok at work, has not quite re-
covered from Mb illness. He intends to visit Wellington during the sitting of the Munioipal Corporation Conference, as general matters of great interest to municipal bodies will come before the ensuing 863sion of Parliament. One subject of special interest to Auckland will be pushed by Mr Goldie, viz., the adoption of the Australian system in the organisation of fire brigades, supported by contributions from municipalities, fire insurance companies, and the Government. The powers of City Councils to provide electric lighting or negotiate with companies for that purpose may also be dealt with.
