THR GOVERNOR BANQUETTED.
GREyaiouTH, Sunday. His Excellency Lord Ranfurly and party were banquetted by the townspeople at Jason's Theatre last evening, It was a most elaborate affair. About 100 attended, including all the leading citizens. The addresses were numerous and interesting. The affair lasted till midnight, when the party broke up. Good humor prevailed throughout. The Governor's speech was chiefly on Imperial affairs and the building up of Greater Britain, mentioning amongst others who deserved well of the Empire for extending the rule of Britain Messrs Chamberlain and Rhodes. He hoped the latter's splendid idea of a railway from Alexandria to the Cape would be carried out. It would be the greatest check on the slave trade.
