The return of business transacted at the ' Christchurch Magistrate's Court during the last quartet shows the following details; — Number civil sittings, 24; criminal sittings, 80. In civil sittings the aggregate amount sued for was .£4732 6s Id, and the amount recovered ,£3208 18s 6d. The number of complaints entered was 486 ; distress warrants issued 78, judgment summonses 36, summonses and other • processes served 417. In criminal' sittings fcho " poi'sonu chargod numbered 680.
