At the Board of Conciliation the men contend for 44 hours per week minimum It is suggested the hours be optional not exceeding 47. The men want a minimum wage of Is per hour, the masters lOAd. Tho Council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce considered the position of tlie bootmakers witli regard to the recent award given by the Conciliation Board, when the following resolution was passed, viz., "That the Counoil having considered the matter, is desirous of cooperating with the Bootmakers' Association, as far as possible, in their efforts to secure freedom of contract."
