HARMSTON 'S CIRCUS AND MENAGERIE.

[HASTINGS CORRESPONDENT.]

One of the best circus combinations that has travelled this district opened last night in Hastings, and was accorded an enthusiastic reception by a very large audience. The tent was the largest ever erected here, and the appointments and general conveniences for the public have evidently been the first consideration of

the management. But after this the show was presented, which for all round attraction and genuine interest to lovers of the ring has seldom if ever been approached., The company is a talented one in every respect, but special mention must be made of the double jockey act, by Messrs Harmston and Eldred ; the Eisley act by Japanese artists ; tho Imperial Ladders, an excellently dressed and executed picture, supported by the strong man and the principal ladies of the company ; the highly trained and intelligently executed acts by Arab horses ; and the humors of the various clowns, by whom, strange to say, several new jokes were perpetrated. The performance concluded with a unique act, in which H. Leopold made his entry into the cage of the famous Bengal tigor Duke, and put that magnificent animal through some daring antics. The whole of the combination is under the well-known management of Mr Bob Love. Tho company play in Hastings again to-night and to-morrow.
